Lafayette Seeley

Lafayette Seeley, 263 E. 4th street, former motel and hotel proprietor here, passed away at 6:30 o’clock Friday evening after a long period of failing health.

Mr. Seeley was born October 26, 1876, in Live Oak county, Texas.  He was engaged in the cattle business for many years.  He came to Pomona from Chandler, Ariz., in 1937 and shortly thereafter he purchased the Big Oak motel.  Two years later he sold the motel and purchased the Oxford hotel.  At the beginning of the war he sold the hotel and was then employed at the Ontario air base until the end of the war.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Seeley, Pomona; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Freeman, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. D.L. Adams, Pomona; a brother, George W. Seeley, Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Mrs. Etta Richley, Devine, Tex.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Todd Memorial chapel.

Funeral services for Lafayette Seeley, 263 E. 4th street, who passed away Friday evening, will be held in Todd Memorial chapel at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, Rev. John Black, pastor of Trinity Methodist church, will officiate.  Interment will be made in Pomona cemetery.
