Helen D. Seley, 90, of Grand Island died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Wheat officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7.

Mrs. Seley was born Aug. 17, 1913, at St. Joseph, Mo., to Louis C. and Sadie (Brown) Lheureny.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal E. Seley.

Survivors of the immediate family include two sons, Leland Seley of Grand Island and William Seley of Ohio, and a daughter, Patty Lorenzen of Shelton.

Also surviving are five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She grew up in Eads, Colo., and received her education in Eads. She attended college in La Junta, Colo. While in college, she was employed at Sears.

She married Loyal E. Seley on March 10, 1941, in Raton, N.M. The couple lived in La Junta, Colo. They moved in 1955 to Grand Island, where Mrs. Seley was employed by Brandeis for 10 years and at St. Francis Hospital for nine years. She retired in 1980. Mr. Seley died March 4, 1987.

Mrs. Seley was a member of the First Christian Church and the church circle working with the Fall Festival.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
