DOROTHY “Dottie” (nee Nicholas) 94, went to be with her Lord on Dec. 15, 2010. She was born Nov. 25, 1916, in River Forest, IL, the daughter of Robert Edgar and Mabel Ellison Nicholas. She was married to Jonathan H. Cilley, Sr., from 1940 until his death in 2005. She graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School (1935) and Wheaton College, IL (B.A., 1939). She lived in Willow Grove, PA, from 1948 until her death. She worked at Great Commission Publications as a copy editor and proofreader from 1971 to 1985. Dottie will be remembered for her commitment to Calvary Presbyterian Church in Willow Grove and to Philadelphia-Montgomery Christian Academy, where she served on the Board of Directors for many years. She was an ardent supporter of Christian education and missions. Her family and friends remember her for her love of words and language. She loved to read and even in her last years enjoyed being involved in her book club. She loved to write, and many have enjoyed her poems, both serious and humorous. She particularly loved her time at her family cottage at Little Point Sable, MI. Surviving are her brother, Thomas A. Nicholas (Emily); three children: Jonathan H. Cilley, Jr. (Lori), Althea C. Scott (James), Robert E. Cilley (Diane); six grandchildren: Rebecca Scott van Vliet (Jevon), Laura Elizabeth Scott, Elizabeth Cilley Southerlan (Luke), Robert Jonathan Cilley, Amy Marie Scott, Stephen James Scott; and great-grandchild Ireyna Ann van Vliet. Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service at 11 :00 A.M. on Saturday, December 18, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 405 N. Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA. Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private at Neshaminy-Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Philadelphia-Montgomery Christian Academy, 35 Hill-crest Ave., Erdenheim, PA 19038 or Calvary Presbyterian Church Mission Fund.

She graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in 1935, and from Wheaton College, in Wheaton, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1939. She lived in Willow Grove, PA, from 1948 until her death. She worked at Great Commission Publications in Elkins Park, PA as a copy editor and proofreader from 1971 to 1985.

Dottie will be remembered for her commitment to Calvary Presbyterian Church in Willow Grove and to Philadelphia-Montgomery Christian Academy, where she served on the Board of Directors for many years. She was an ardent supporter of Christian education and missions.

Cilley and is wife Diane; six grandchildren: Rebecca Scott van Vliet and her husband Jevon, Laura Elizabeth Scott, Elizabeth Cilley Southerlan and her husband Luke, Robert Jonathan Cilley, Amy Marie Scott, Stephen James Scott; and great-grandchild Ireyna Ann van Vliet.

Relatives and friends were invited to her memorial service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 18, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 405 N. Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA. Friends were invited to call at church from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Interment was private at Neshaminy – Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Philadelphia-Montgomery Christian Academy, 35 Hillcrest Ave., Erdenheim, PA 19038 or to Calvary Presbyterian Church Mission Fund, 405 N. Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
