David was born June 5, 1952 in Hungry Horse, Montana to Ward A. and Kathryn Imogene Bawcom Seeley. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Janet Willey Seeley and his six children. After graduating from Granger High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, he attended Brigham Young University and University of Missouri-Rolla receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, as well as a Master’s Degree in 1978. During his college years, he also served a two year mission in Japan for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an experience he always treasured. He married Janet Carole Willey on April 19, 1974 in the Salt Lake City Temple. After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering, he took his first job in Kansas City, MO in 1978, continuing to work in engineering his entire life. In 1995, David moved his family to Las Vegas, NV where he worked for 15 years. He has always been involved in service in the church and the community, having leadership responsibilities in both Church and Scouting duties. From 2004-2008 David served as a Bishop in the Southern Highlands Ward and deeply loved all those whom he served; being as many would frequently say “a true shepherd”. In 2008, David and Janet moved back into the Kansas City area so that they would be near their children and grandchildren, and most recently worked at Black & Veatch. David loved his family deeply and was very involved with his children and grandchildren, enjoying activities of all kinds with them, especially in the outdoors.
