NORTH FREEDOM – Funeral services for Daniel W. Seeley, 94, pioneer North Freedom thresher man and former village official will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Baptist church.

The Rev. Thomas Lutz will officiate. Burial will be in the North Freedom cemetery.

Mr. Seeley died late Monday at his home.

Friends may call at the Scheible funeral home, Baraboo, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

 Mr. Seeley was born in Reedsburg and came to North Freedom when 21. He was a popular violinist and with George Sullivan played at Old Settler’s Association meetings, and called square dances in the 1880’s and 90’s.

For 28 seasons he threshed in the area, first with horse power and later with a power thresher and steam engine.

He was president of the village for 26 years and a member of the board of education for nine years. He also served as mail messenger for 22 years.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Grosinske: two sons, Max Amarillo, Tex., and James, Topeka, Kas.; a daughter, Mrs. William Stinebrink, Kendall: 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
