Pioneer Citizen of Napa Taken by Death

NAPA. Feb. 7 – C.B. Seeley, prominent in civic life here for more than 50 years, died yesterday at the home of Dr. Annie B. Wightman. He had been ill for 13 years. He came to California in 1864. For a short time he taught school here, then was elected county clerk, an office which he held for 10 years. In 1879 he engaged in banking with the late A.L. Bickford, in the firm of Seeley and Bickford. For 39 years he was secretary of the board of managers of the Napa State hospital. He served several years as city councilman, and was head of the city library for many years.

In 1866, Seeley married Miss Mary White, also a teacher. She died in 1915. The body will be taken to Oakland for cremation. In accordance with wishes expressed by Seeley, there will be no funeral services.
