Pneumonia Fatal to Popular Ithacan Who Was Steward At Masonic Temple – Was Member of Many Organizations of the Lodge

Arthur W. Seeley, 48, prominent in Masonic and other fraternal organizations of Ithaca, died Thursday night, November 8, at his home, 410 Utica Street, after a several days’ illness of pneumonia.

Mr. Seeley will be greatly missed particularly at the Masonic Temple where he has been a steward since the building was opened.  He possessed a genial, kindly disposition and endeared himself to many Ithacans.  He was a valuable aid to numerous organizations which held social functions at the Temple.

Previous to his employment at the Masonic Temple, Mr. Seeley was a warehouse employe of D.B. Stewart & Company, wholesale grocers, for 12 years.

Mr. Seeley was the tiler of Fidelity Lodge, No. 51, A. and A. Masons, for the past 15 years.  He was also Past Thrice Potent Master of the Ithaca Lodge of Perfection; a 32nd degree Mason, being a member of Otseningo Consistory of Binghamton; also a member of the Balbec Grotto and the Ithaca Masonic Club.  He was a member of the Ithaca Lodge of Odd Fellows.

Mr. Seeley is survived by his widow, and his father, Francis Seeley.

Funeral on Saturday

A prayer service for immediate relatives will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, November 10, at the home, 410 Utica Street, with a Masonic service at 2:30 o’clock at the Masonic Temple.  Rev. A.P. Coman, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in the Lake View Cemetery.

All members of Fidelity Lodge of Masons were summoned by its master, E.K. Bardwell, to meet at the Masonic Temple at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon in a special communication to conduct the funeral service.  The lodge will be opened to the public at 3:15 o’clock.

It is requested that all flowers be sent to the Masonic Temple instead of to the house.

400 Attend Funeral Of Arthur Seeley At Masonic Temple

The funeral of Arthur W. Seeley, prominent in Masonic organizations in Ithaca, who died on Thursday evening, November 8, at his home, 410 Utica Street, was held at 2:30 o’clock on Saturday afternoon, November 10, at the Masonic Temple with over 400 present.  The funeral was conducted by officers of Fidelity Lodge of Masons and the service was read by Past Master R.W. Frank B. Davis.  Rev. A.P. Coman, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church officiated.  Interment was in Lake View Cemetery.  Preceding the funeral, a prayer service was held at the home for the relatives.

The bearers were Dr. Luzerne Coville, Benjamin Royce, Chauncey Bower, Moses J. Watkins, Henry G. Thorne, Dr. Adrian Gould and Willard W. Ellis.
