Archer Brandon (Bugar) Seely, 83, of Albany, GA, died May 18, 2011 at Albany Health Care. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The Very Reverend Mark Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of New Orleans, LA, Mr. Seely grew up and had resided in Albany, GA all of his life. He graduated from Albany High School in 1945, attended Stetson University on a football scholarship and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Seely owned and operated Seely Office Equipment from 1952 until his retirement in 1994.

He was a member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church, where he served as a Jr. Warden on the Vestry. Mr. Seely was a member of the Albany Rotary Club and was instrumental in forming the Albany Touchdown Club, now the Albany Bulldog Club and was a director and member of the Albany Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Dougherty County Draft Board during the Vietnam War and served as the Grand Marshall for the Sesquicentennial Parade in Albany.

Survivors include his wife, Betsy Ann Shaw Seely of Albany, GA, two sons, Archer Lin (Al) Seely and his partner, Alan Wilson, MD of Albany, GA and Shaw Seely and his wife, Lynn of Jacksonville, FL, a sister, Lynn Seely Bishton and her husband, Bob of Albany, GA, four grandchildren, Amanda Seely Murphy and her husband, Bill and Archer Brandon Seely II and his wife, Whitney all of Albany, GA and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Seely and Kirston Allyssa Seely both of Jacksonville, FL, two great-grandchildren, Seely Murphy and McDermott Murphy and a daughter-in-law, Denise Raney of Albany, GA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Smith and a brother, John Seely.

The family will receive friends at their residence from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday.
