Treva E. Bennett, 91, of Swayzee, Indiana died Tuesday April 24, 2018 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after a brief illness.

Treva was born on July 8, 1926 at home in Swayzee, Indiana, daughter of the late Herman and Mabel LaVonne (Bradford) Seeley.  She graduated from Swayzee High School in 1943 and married the love of her life Charles W. “Bill” Bennett on April 29, 1945 after meeting at Peerlees Machine where she was a secretary and dating for two weeks.  He preceded her in death after 70 years of marriage on August 3, 2015.  Treva was a diplomatic military wife.   She traveled all over the world with Bill, learning the cooking skills of whatever country they were serving in and entertaining  dignitaries.  She mastered Chinese, Japanese, German and Swedish cooking.   Treva was a lifetime member of the Jones Chapel Church where she was involved with the Willing Workers.  In her younger years she was actively involved with the Red Cross, Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern Star.  She was a former member and past president of the Three Arts Club of Swayzee and also the Town & Country Club.  Treva loved flowers, gardening, bird watching and feeding the birds especially the humming birds.

Treva is survived by their two children; Jo Lynn Pence and William “Van” (Doris) Bennett both of Swayzee,  five grandchildren; Angela (Jerry) Ballew, D’Andrea (Bryan) Cress, Heath (Kelli) Bennett, Brandon (Sarah) Bennett, and special granddaughter Jennifer Pence, six great grandchildren; Kayla, Ericka, Dustin, Dakota, Kennedy, Kate, Allison,  and Landyn,  two great-great grandchildren; Leo, and Alexandria Rose, two sisters; Marilyn McGraw, Fairmount, and Arlene (Don) Strong, San Antonio, TX, and sister-in- law, Jean Cunningham Wood River, IL.

Treva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Judy Bennett McKee.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where visitation will be on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4-7 PM.  Funeral Service is Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11 AM her grandsons, Pastors Brandon and Heath Bennett officiating.  Burial will follow at Knox Chapel, Fairmount, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jones Chapel Church in care of the funeral home.
