Louise Beck Dies Friday

A heart attack early Friday morning has taken the life of Mrs. Louise E. Beck, Deadwood.  She had been ill one day and died in St. Joseph’s Hospital where she was admitted at 11 p.m. Thursday.

She was born June 23, 1905 at Afton, Iowa and received her schooling there.  In 1924, she was married in Wyoming to Edgar Beck, who preceded her in death in August, 1960.  The couple had live in the Deadwood area since 1928.  Mrs. Beck was a member of the First Methodist Church of Deadwood and for a number of years was employed as a nurses’ aide in St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Survivors are two sons, James of Deadwood; Carl, Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren, a brother, Claude Seeley, Sundance, Wyo.; a sister, Mrs. W.J. Forscha, Gillette, Wyo.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Wells Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Wiley officiating.  Interment will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established for the Methodist Church and may be left at the church or the funeral home.

Funeral Is Held For Louise Beck

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Deadwood for Mrs. Louise B. Beck, who died unexpectedly Friday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The final rites were held at the Wells Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Kenneth Wiley of the First Methodist Church officiating.

Mrs. Robert Ruth sang “Good Night and Good Morning” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.”

Serving as pallbearers were Vern Zaiser, Leonard Newman, both of Rapid City; Jerry Carter, Les Bowman, both of Deadwood and Max Larsen and Pete Sunich, both of Lead.

All other friends were considerate honorary pallbearers.

Interment was in the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis.
