Mrs. Florence Wells, Member Of Widely-Known Family, Dies
HIGHLAND – Mrs. Florence E. Wells passed away Monday. She had been in ill health for some time. Born in Utah, January 20, 1880, she had lived in Highland for 70 years.
Mrs. Wells was a member of one of the well known pioneer covered-wagon families of the valley, her people having come from Utah to San Bernardino in 1851. Mrs. Well’s grandfather, David Seely, built the first sawmill at Seely Flats and was one of San Bernardino’s first City councilmen. Her father, David Randolph Seely, was one of the pioneer citrus growers of the valley. Mrs. Wells was the widow of James T. Wells, who passed away many years ago.
She was a graduate of the San Bernardino High School with the class of 1898. She had been a member of the Silver Wave Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her son, James R. Wells of Colton, and two brothers, William H. Seely of Highland and Victor Seely of San Bernardino.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Grove-Kircher Colonial Mortuary on Highland Avenue with the Rev. W. John Parker, pastor of the Highland Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be Mountain View Cemetery.

Funeral services for Florence R. Wells will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Grove-Kircher Colonial Mortuary, with the Rev. W. John Parker officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
