Evelyn Marie Bax

Evelyn Marie Bax, age 90, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Kirkwood on May 16, 1929, daughter of the late William Raphael and Viola (Voss) Seely. On September 14, 1957, in Wilhelmina, Evelyn married Stanley Louis Bax, who preceded her in death on August 7, 2017.

Evelyn was a loving homemaker and caregiver to her family and worked for several years at Ottenheimer Factory in Meta. She was an avid reader and some of her favorite past-times included writing, crafting and sewing. Evelyn was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.

She is survived by six children, Carol Neese and husband Dennis of Iberia, Donna Dickneite and husband Kenneth of St. Anthony, Ron Bax and wife Cheryl of St. Elizabeth, Susie Lavery and husband Dr. Dan Lavery of Jefferson City, Clifford Bax of Branson, and Melissa Bax of Camdenton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Gus Seely; two sisters, Bertha Libbert and Geri Redden; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her infant son, Curtis Bax, two brothers, Bill Seely and John Seely and two sisters, Viola Fortner and Patricia Feiser.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 3, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.

In memory of Evelyn’s love for reading, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Elizabeth R-IV School Library Fund.
