Walter Leonard Davis

August 17, 1925 – September 27, 2015

Walter Leonard Davis passed away on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015. He was born on Aug. 17, 1925. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday.

He was an Eagle Scout and joined the Navy in 1943 serving six years throughout the Pacific war areas, including duty at Pearl Harbor.

In Hawaii he met and married Helen, who died in 2010. They had been married 62 years.

After discharge from the Navy in Hawaii, he began working for the Aetna Life and Casualty Company as an Insurance Adjuster, later advancing to Superintendent and Manager in Oakland and Orange County, California.

After retirement in 1985, Walter became involved in various veteran and genealogy groups, serving as Commander of VFW and American Legion Posts in Santa Ana and President of the Orange County Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. He had traced his family genealogy back ten generations.

He is survived by his sister, Marvella Markley (Merle) of Pittsburg and nieces and nephews: Darrel (Sheila) Markley, Pittsburg; Valerie (Alan) Harris, South Carolina; Vicki (Steven) Younger, Missouri; Duane Martin (Sue), Texas; Judy Murphy, Colorado; Jeanene Carr, Idaho; Kay (Artie) Dorris, Montana. Two sisters had preceded him in death.

Services will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, California at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015.
