Wilber M. Seelye, Jr.

Mr. Seelye died in Lansing on June 25, 1981.  He was born in Lansing on November 8, 1927, the son of Wilber M. and Mabel I.  He was a graduate of J.W. Sexton High School and Bradley University; a Veteran of W.W. II; active in community affairs; Past President of the Wise Men’s Club, and Immediate Past President of the U and I Club.  Mr. Seelye was a loyal member of the Peoples Church, where he served on the Board of Elders, the Peoples Church, where he served on the Board of Elders, the Peoples Church Fine Arts Commission, the Commission of Christian Education, coordinator and teacher of the Second and Third grades.  He worked for many years with two local architectural firms, the Warren Holmes Co., and Manson, Jackson & Kane, and was an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects.  Mr. Seelye was predeceased by a brother, David M. Seelye.  He is survived by his son, Wilber M. III; a daughter, Sarah I. of East Lansing; his sister, Mrs. Douglas (Silvia I.) Hill of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews, and his former Wife, Marlene J. Seelye.  Religious services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Julius Fischbach at 1 p.m. Monday in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be: David Seelye Hines, Rodney Waldron, Jim Waldron, Jeffery Waldron, Gregory Waldron, Mark Waldron.  Honorary pallbearers will be: Malcolm Williams, Richard Snyder, Clark Harris, Ian Ironside, Ric Anselmo, Jack Dunn, Elmer Manson.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, and from 12:00 Noon to 2 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.  Memorials may be made to the Michigan Lupus Foundation, 22201 Mack; St. Clair Shores, Mich. 48080, or the Scleroderma Foundation, c/o Estes-Leadley Funeral Home.
