Terry Richard Seeley

Terry Richard Seeley of Battle Creek, MI , age 54, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, January 30, 2019, at his residence.

The son of Richard and Jong Soon (Kwak) Seeley, Terry was born in Battle Creek on August 7, 1964. He was a lifetime area resident and 1982 graduate of Harper Creek High School. He was employed at Tenneco, Inc. of Marshall, MI, as a quality engineer. Prior to that, he worked for TRMI for 28 years, where he had the opportunity to travel extensively.

Terry was a gentle soul who will be remembered for his warm smile, sense of humor, generosity, and big heart. He was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren.

He also loved all animals—especially cats and dogs. He would take in every cat “in need” that he came across, and adopted many dogs over the years.

He played defense on his high school football team, and later in life enjoyed many sports and activities, including basketball, soccer, frisbee football, tennis, fishing, and kite-flying. An avid golfer, he was most proud of his hole-in-one at Riverside Golf Club on August 18, 2018. Along with the rest of his family, Terry loved to be disappointed in the Detroit Lions! He also enjoyed gardening, amusement park rides (the bigger the roller coaster, the better!) and vacationing in Florida with his family.

Terry leaves behind to mourn his death two precious daughters, Jordan M. (Andrew) Williams of Battle Creek and Ellie E. Seeley of Albion, MI; a stepson, Matthew (Kristen) Tarpley of Marshall, MI; a sister, Kim S. Seeley of Battle Creek, and a brother, Harley J. (Laura) Seeley of Haslett, MI; four grandchildren (Christopher, Ethan, Tabitha, and Brayden); and Erin (Seeley) O’Connor of Albion, MI, who was married to him for 28 years. Terry was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. Pastor Ralph Cates will officiate. Final interment will be with his parents in Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Terry’s honor may be directed to Project Hope Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 382, Coldwater, MI 49036, through which Terry recently adopted his dog, Eddie; or an animal rescue group of your choice.
