Ruella M. Seeley Dies After Illness

Miss Ruella M. Seeley, 61, of 43 S. Union St. died last evening in a local hospital where she had been a patient since July 23.  She had been bookkeeper for the Corlett Lumber Co. the last five years, until last June, when she became ill.

Born in Climax, a daughter of Ruel and Carrie (Murray) Seeley, she came here with her parents as a baby.  Her father, a building contractor, built some 300 houses in Post addition, the famed “Peniman castle” on Main Street, the Post School, and many fine residences in and near the city.

Miss Seeley was graduated from Central High School in 1920 with honors for her perfect 12-year attendance record.  She immediately took a bookkeeping job with the Whalen grocery and later worked for the R. Binder meat market until it went out of business.

Miss Seeley was a member of the Central Christian Church, had served as a board member and treasurer and was a member and president of the Rebekah and Elorian circles of the church.

Her survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Marguerite) Bracey of 71 S. McKinley Ave., Mrs. Roy (Doris) Callaway of 135 N. McKinley Ave. and Mrs. Otis (Bertha) Ketcham of Dowling and a brother, Murray Seeley of Nashville.
