Robert E. Seeley

QUEENSBURY — Robert E. “Bob” Seeley, 94, of Queensbury, passed into the kingdom of heaven on Jan. 3, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1922 in Hudson Falls, son of the late Clara (Washburn) Seeley and Clifton I. Seeley, Sr.

On May 2, 1942, Bob married the love of his life, Marguerite VanTassell and for 72 years their devotion to one another was an inspiration to all who met them. They resided in Glens Falls for 54 years and then moved to Queensbury.

Bob entered the U.S. Army during World War II on Dec. 9, 1942 and fought in four campaigns, Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, and central Europe. He was recipient of several medals, including the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged from service on Oct. 23, 1945. Bob visited the World War II Memorial in 2004, the year it opened, and it was a trip he always cherished right along with his many trips to Maine.

After discharge, Bob worked for Scotty’s Fuel Oil as a technician for more than 30 years. He also enjoyed the many hours he spent playing semi-pro baseball with the Hudson Falls Red Sox, and basketball with the Independence and Imperial Leagues.

Bob dedicated his life to the Lord and always put God first. He trusted God for his daily existence and prayed for each of his family members by name every day. He always believed that the important things in life were the things that could not be counted. “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their words do follow them’ ( Revelation 14:13).”

Bob was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Virginia and Claris; and four brothers, Ward, Clifton Jr., Gerald and Donald.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marguerite Seeley; two sons, David Seeley and Richard (Judi) Seeley and a daughter, Joan (Richard) Parsons, all of Queensbury. Bob is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, 11 step-great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild, and one step-great great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Eleanor Eggleston; and several nieces, nephews.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following calling hours, with Pastor John Chamberlin, of Calvary Assembly of God in Glens Falls, officiating.
