Richard David Seeley

Richard David “Dick” Seeley of South Branch, MI, died peacefully on April 27, 2018 surrounded by his family. He enjoyed 88 years of an extraordinarily blessed life. He was born in Saginaw to Douglas H. and Sophia M. (Billeter) Seeley on May 14, 1929. Dick graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1947 and from General Motor’s Institute in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Staff Sergeant Seeley worked on B-17s as an aircraft mechanic until 1955 and all of his life proudly carried in his wallet his Air Force issued certification enabling him to taxi those B-17s! Dick married Sally Jean Burr on June 28, 1958 and moved to Breckenridge. They were blessed with four children: Wendy (Edward) Wadowski, Charles (Carrie) Seeley, Cathy (Chris) Kipp, and Kitty (Scott) DeVuyst. He and Sally treasured their 12 grandchildren: Jason (Stephanie) Brown, Aaron (Erin) Brown, Jon (Sarah) Wadowski, Jason Wadowski, Joe (Javinah) Wadowski, Alicia (Chris) Kreh, Courtney (Eric) Amos, Morgan Seeley, Alex Kipp, Justin Kipp, Nathan Kipp and Shelby DeVuyst. And they adored eight great grandchildren: Dakota, Payton, Ethan, Elaina, Hunter, Isla, Grant, and Reagan. The couple resided in Breckenridge until Dick’s retirement as a Development Engineer from Central Foundry Division, GMC, Saginaw, upon which they moved to South Branch. Dick had been a proud and active member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Mio. A skilled woodworker, he made numerous pieces of beautiful furniture for family and friends. Dick was a wonderful husband, a great dad, a beloved grandpa, and a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Pauline (Francis) Arch. Dick is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, and his sister Sharon (Otto) Krueger. The family wishes to thank Great Lakes Hospice and Hearts Content Assisted Living of Breckenridge. The family was served by Buresh Funeral Home Inc, 121 S Washington St., Hale, MI. A private service has taken place. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution please consider St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 789 Ryno Rd., Mio, MI 48647. Condolences may be addressed in care of Chuck Seeley, PO Box 117, Breckenridge, MI 48615
