Greenwood – Richard C. Seely of Greenwood died after a long illness Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in LifeCare at Lofland Park, Seaford. He was 86.
Mr. Seely was born in Greenwood, the son of the late Joseph and Rita Seely.
He served overseas, a veteran of World War II.
He owned and operated a farm in Greenwood with his sons.
Mr. Seely was a charter member of Greenwood VFW Memorial Post 7478, and he served several years as post commander.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Seely, in 1983; and two sisters, Laura Rogers and Cora Warrington. He is survived by five children, Richard B. Seely, Barbara Pettyjohn of Georgetown, Paul “Butch” Seely of Greenwood, William D. Seely of Greenwood and Margaret K. Seely of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Frederick Seely of Smyrna.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood, where friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Bridgeville Cemetery, Bridgeville.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to: Evergreen Center II, 611 South DuPont Highway, Milford, DE 19963.
