Troupsburg | Raymond C. Seeley, 85, of Hopper Hill Road, Troupsburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira following failing health.

Born in Troupsburg on January 5, 1931, Ray was the son of the late Hugh and Lucy Cady Seeley. He was raised in Troupsburg and attended school there.

On February 14, 1970, he and the former Kathryn “Kay” Nelson Young were married in Knoxville, PA.

Ray went to work at the Elkland Tanning Company where he was employed for 20 years up to the time of their closing. He then worked for Painter’s Meat Market and farm for 14 years before going to work on the bridge crew of the Steuben County Highway Department. Ray was a jack of all trades and would lend knowledge and expertise to any task presented to him.

He enjoyed woodworking and had a unique fondness for horses. He was able to draw excellent likenesses of horses, which his grandchildren loved to watch being created. A former Mason, Ray had belonged to McClellan Lodge F&AM in Troupsburg and later the Robinson Lodge in Jasper.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Seeley of Troupsburg, their children, Sue Sheffield of Hornell, Kevin (Ting-I) Young of Troupsburg, Douglas (Barbara) Young of Glen Allen, VA, and Raymond (Diana) Seeley Jr. of Troupsburg, his grandchildren, Lisa Gee, Charles Burdick. Robert Treat Jr., Melissa Crooks, William Sheffield, Joseph Young, Julie Kuck, Annmarie Young, Alana Young, Brittany Seeley, Jacob Seeley, Ruby Seeley, Grace Seeley and Abdullah Alshanbari, 13 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, his sisters, Ruth (Bob) Kizer of Elkland and Kathy (Steve) Hartman of Woodhull and several nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his daughter, Sonja Treat, his brothers, Harry Seeley, Louis Seeley and John Seeley and his sister, Lois Crane.

Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 2-5 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY and again there on Monday from 1-3 PM. Funeral services will follow there on Monday at 3 PM.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Troupsburg Ambulance Corp.
