LAKEWOOD – Jackie Lee “Jack” Seely, 67, of Lakewood died 12:10 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 10, 2004) in his home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden, with the Rev. Barry Long officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick, with military rites by VFW Post 4829, Shelbyville. Memorials: donor’s choice.
Mr. Seely was born March 29, 1936, in Pana, the son of Harold Leonard “Short” and Ora Elizabeth Williams Seely. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving 20 years in the Marine Corps. He was formerly employed as security officer
with Pinkertons and Smith Security, formerly owned the pool hall in Cowden and was a licensed auctioneer. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4829, Shelbyville, where he was past commander and presently serving as quartermaster. He was a member of American Legion in Effingham, Sons of the American Legion and Marine Corps League. He married Jane Piefer in 1954 in Herrick. He then married Mary Ann Lunsford on April 7, 1999, in Henderson, Ky.
Surviving are his wife; children, Libby Pruemer and husband Gene of Teutopolis; Pam Mahaffey and husband Dale of Cowden; Jack Seely Jr. of Cowden; Lanny Seely of Tower Hill; Shelly Day and husband Tim of Cowden; stepchildren, Randy Tarwater and Shawna Stokes, both of Dothan, Ala.; brothers, Dean Seely and wife Mildred of Decatur; Jerry Seely and wife Vera of Raymond; sister-in-law, Margie Seely of Cowden; grandchildren, Amanda Pulsfort, Angie Pruemer, Matt Pruemer, Greg Pruemer, Lisa Pruemer, Tony Pruemer, Rhiannon Mahaffey, Lexi Mahaffey, Brooke Seely, Kourtney Day, Kalei Day and Tyler Day.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold “Pete” Seely; and one grandson.
