Guy Seely
Guy Seely, editor of the Red Bud (Ill.) Pilgrim, was drowned in the Kaskaskia River east of Red Bud on Sunday, March 14th. Mr. Seely was duck hunting, but how he met his death is not known as he was alone, but it is supposed that his skiff was upset.

EDITOR SEELY’S DEATH
Guy Seely, editor of the Red Bud Pilgrim, was drowned in the Okaw river Sunday. It was his habit to spend favorable Sundays on the river where he had built a cabin for that purpose, and he would fish and hunt. On this occasion he went Saturday evening so as to meet the early duck invasion. Not returning Sunday evening as he informed his family he would, messengers were sent to his camp. He was seen at his cabin about two o’clock Sunday afternoon by farmer boys. A searching party, headed by Mayor Perkins, started out Monday and Tuesday the body of Seely was found in the river near a drift. He evidently fell from the boat and caught his feet in a rope and was unable to extricate himself. He leaves a widow and six children.
He was popular wherever known and many are the regrets expressed over his untimely death. The deceased was a prominent member of the Knights of Pythias and several representatives from Sparta lodge attended the funeral. – Sparta Plaindealer.
