Frederick E. “Ted” Seely

Publication The death of Frederick “Ted” E. Seely, 78, of Hampton, husband of Shirley (Scott) Seely occurred December 10, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born at Hampton, son of the late Leon and Elsie (Stephenson) Seely. Ted worked on the family farm until 1951 when he joined the Military Officer Candidate Program. He retired as Captain in 1970 following postings in Germany, Camp Shilo, Manitoba, Camp Gagetown, and Halifax. Ted then worked at the Irving Pulp and Paper Mill as a supervisor retiring in 1988. Among the many groups and organizations Ted belonged to included President of the Lower Norton Community Hall, Past Master of The Corinthian Lodge #13, F.&A.M., Neighbourhood Watch and N.B. Beekeeping Association. Ted was a member of Church of the Ascension where he served as Church Warden for many years. He was very involved with his children when they were younger and coached hockey and served as President of NB Waterskiing Association. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, winemaking, landscaping, and keeping tropical fish. He loved Labrador Retrievers including his current sidekick Danka. Surviving besides his wife are one daughter Sheri Mersereau (Jay) Of Hampton; two sons, Scott Seely (Paulette) of Hampton, Shawn Seely (Jennifer) of Hampton; one sister Barbara Nickerson of Saint John; eight grandchildren Adam, Taylor, Justin, Trevor, Stephanie, Morgan, Alyssa and Nichole, several nieces and nephews. Resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (832-5541). 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Saturday at Church of the Ascension, Norton Shore Road, with service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Bob LeBlanc officiating. Interment is in the adjoining cemetery. A reception will follow at Lower Norton Community Hall. Memorials to Church of The Ascension Building Fund or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Visiting 7-9 pm Thursday and 2-4 & 7-9 Friday. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
