Frank C. Seely 

St. Clair -Frank C. Seely, age 80, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab after a long illness. He was born December 12, 1929 in Port Huron to Frank E. and Mae I. Seely and was a life long area resident. He married Kathleen O’Donnell at St. Stephen Catholic Church on August 25, 1951. Frank graduated from Port Huron High School in 1947. He received an Associates Degree from Port Huron Junior College. Mr. Seely enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1950 to 1954.

He worked for Ainsworth Manufacturing and the City Dairy before starting his own business Seely’s Standard Service. Frank owned and operated Seely’s Standard Service for over 50 years. He sponsored many different area sports teams, including the area’s 1st girl’s hockey team, Seely’s De- Icers. He also enjoyed supporting the Salvation Army and the Boy Scouts. Mr. Seely was a past Board Member of the Michigan Petroleum Retailers Association, a member of the American Legion, Port Huron Elks, Knights of Columbus – Immaculata Council, and Ventura Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Florida.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Kathleen Seely of St. Clair, 3 children, Frank E. (Christine Webster) Seely of Blissfield, Michigan, John C. Seely of LaPlata, Maryland, and JoEllen Seely Phillips of Garland, Texas, 7 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Dan) Bidwell, Emily Webster-Seely, Kathleen L. Seely-Gant, John C. Seely-Gant, Constance M. Seely-Gant, Ryan (Cara) Phillips, and Hillary (Ernesto) Arieta, 4 great-grandchildren, a sister, Barbara J. Neumann, and a sister-in-law, Nora Lee Seely, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, William Seely.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Monday in Holy Trinity Parish’s St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Rev. Fr. Brian K. Cokonougher officiating. Frank’s nephews will be pallbearers. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-7 p.m. in the Smith Family Funeral Home – South, 1230 7th Street, and on Monday beginning at 12:30 p.m. in church. The Knights of Columbus will lead the Rosary Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Holiday Fund.
