Estel Seely
Estel Seely was born November 23, 1937. He passed from this life Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at his home in the Ryan Nursing Home in Ryan, Oklahoma, at the age of sixty-nine. He loved Hank Williams’ music and was a friend to al. He was a Baptist. His niece, Twila Lisbon, looked after his needs and loved him very much. Estel will be greatly missed by his family and friends and his extended family at the Ryan Nursing Home.
Estel entered the Ryan Nursing Home August 9, 2004, after his brother Joe became ill. He quickly became part of the nursing home family. He enjoyed coloring pictures for everyone and watching cartoons. Estel had a quick smile and a one-liner was always ready for residents, staff and visitors. He taught everyone to sing his favorite songs – “Hey, Good Lookin'” and “A Hot Rod Ford and a Two-dollar Bill.” Estel never passed up an opportunity to flirt with a pretty girl, bringing out his beautiful smile and bright, sparking blue eyes.
Some of Estel’s favorite things were Diet Dr Pepper, hot chocolate, and Dum Dum Suckers. He never minded telling someone that he was ready for one. Recently he enjoyed a small guitar. Cadillac helped him play it. He loved to hear Cadillac play and wanted to learn to play just like him. He received a rock and roll bear for Christmas which he listened to and smiled. Lauri Weldon of the Ryan Nursing Home said of Estel that he was one of God’s special angels, a blessing to his family, friends and his extended Ryan Nursing Home family.
Survivors include: his brothers Wayne Seely and Marvin Seely; and his niece Twila Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joe Seely.
Graveside services for Mr. Seely were Friday, June 1, 2007, at the Ryan Cemetery with Rev. Lynn Plant officiating. Services were under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
