Man Suffers Heart Attack, Dies in Car

Ernest G. Seely, 55, Slumps Over Wheel; Granddaughter, 13, Tries To Stop Car

Ernest G. Seely, 55, of Tryonville, RD 1, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday following a heart attack suffered in his car as he was returning to his work at St. Joseph’s Convent.

Accompanied by his granddaughter, Susie Muir, 13, Mr. Seely had driven to a local coal yard, and was returning to the convent where he was employed as caretaker.

As the car approached the intersection of West Central Avenue and Perry Street, Mr. Seely slumped over the wheel. Susie quickly grabbed the wheel and steered the car across Central Avenue. She tried to stop the car, but the vehicle went over the curb and stalled against a hedge in front of the Matthew D. Kelly home, 106 N. Perry St.

Mr. Seely was rushed to the Titusville Hospital in the Tracy ambulance. He was pronounced dead on arrival. Dr. C.M. Sonne, deputy coroner, issued a verdict of death from natural causes.

The police said his car did not appear to be damaged.

Mr. Seely was born in Townville on Nov. 28, 1888, a son of Burl and Nellie Brightman Seely. In 1909 he married Emma Mott at Clymer, N.Y.

Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Sadie Shrout, Mrs. Hazel Foley and Charles E. Seely of Titusville, and Mrs. Marie Martin of Tidioute, RD 1; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Seely of Erie. He is also survived by the following half-sisters: Mrs. Ula Johnson of Youngsville, Mrs. Wayne Gilson and Mrs. Fred Stufflebeam of Grand Valley, RD 1, Mrs. John Moronski and Mrs. Clarence Cornell of Grand Valley, and Mrs. Ben Anderson of Pleasantville.

Friends may call at the usual visiting hours at the Tracy home of funerals, where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Loy C. Matthews of the Pleasantville Methodist Church will officiate and interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery at Centerville.
