Elva Barton Seely

ELVA BARTON SEELY beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the age of 90 years.

Elva is survived by her children: Richard (Diane) of Monrovia, California; Marvin (Charlotte) of Red Deer; Wendy (Jon) Ackroyd of Lethbridge; and Dean (Donna) of Hillspring.

She will be sadly missed by her 23 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and good friends all those that held a very special place in her heart.

Elva was predeceased by her parents, William and Valetta (Oler) Barton and the one and only love of her life, Deloy, and children: Constance, Garth, and Ramona (Crapo). Also predeceasing Elva were great granddaughter Rachel (Murphy), and daughters-in-laws Linda (Slovack) and Bonnie (Parks), and sister Lois (Heggie).

Elva was born in Stirling on January 19, 1919. All her early years were spent there, where she loved spending time with her three sisters, Lois, Marjorie, and Verneice. Elva said she always knew Deloy and was confident at an early age that he was the man for me. Elva and Deloy were married 66 years at Deloy’s passing in 2005 and we know that they are now so happy to be together forever.

Elva devoted her life as a wife and mother, always focusing on her family. She loved to sing, sew, quilt, cook, and spent many fun-filled hours playing Scrabble and Rook with wonderful friends and family in Rosemary and Cardston.

Elva was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served well. She had a special love for the Temple and the many years she served there. Her strong and quiet faith and testimony will always be a great strength to her family.

Thank-you to all for the special care given to Elva at Adaptacare Homes. She loved you all and appreciated the many extra miles on her behalf.

Funeral Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Fairmont Chapel, 205 Fairmont Blvd. S., Lethbridge on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Doug Wilde officiating. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow in the Stirling Cemetery.
