Elmer G. Seely

Elmer G. Seely, 79, 723 E. 22 St., Erie, died Friday morning at the Erie County Geriatric Center following an extended illness.

He was a yard conductor and a brakeman with the Pennsylvania Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1955. A resident of Erie most of his life, he also lived in Huskin, Fla.

Mr. Seely was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and the Polish Alliance. He was born in Titusville on Nov. 28, 1897, a son of the late Charles and Estelle Conger Seely.

Survivors include a son, Thomas, of Erie: three daughters, Mrs. Violet Morrison, of Arbuckle, Mrs. Alice Thompson, of Harborcreek, and Mrs. Faye Lathrop, McKane; two brothers, Merle Seely of Oil City, and Ray Seely of Cooperstown: a sister, Mrs. Norma Bearce, of Erie: 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie F. Luce Seely in September of 1936, and a brother, Charles Seely.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., Erie, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Monday morning at 10 a.m. with Rev. John C. Free officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City.
