Elmer F. Seely

Elmer F. Seely, 72, former Waterloo city attorney, died at a Marshalltown, Ia., rooming house Saturday

He was born to O.F. and Susan S. Miller Seely, Feb. 7, 1877, in Black Hawk county, and served in the Spanish-American war. He married Grace M. Anderson at Lawton, Okla., in 1902, and practiced law there until 1905 when he returned to Waterloo and was a law partner to his brother, Guy Seely, until the latter’s death in 1906.

He then became a partner of William A. Cook and served as city attorney in 1920 and 1921. He moved to Marshalltown in 1935.

Preceding him in death were a brother, a step-brother and a step-sister. Surviving are a brother, Thomas O. Seely, 441 Florence street, and a step-sister, Mrs. Art A. Brandon, Route 5.

The body is at the Purcell funeral home, Marshalltown.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Iowa State Soldiers home. Burial will be at the home cemetery.
