Elizabeth Cameron Seely
Elizabeth Cameron Seely, 76, of Pleasant Hill, passed away April 30, 2001. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, May 13, at 3 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Community United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Seely was born March 10, 1925, in New Jersey.
She was raised in New Rochelle, NY, and earned her undergraduate degree from Oberlin College in 1947, before serving as a missionary in China for three years. She continued her education at Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary.
A lifelong community and church volunteer, Mrs. Seely was an active member of the Pleasant Hill Community United Church of Christ, Uplands Retirement Village and the Pleasant Hill community since moving there in 1984. She worked closely with the Pleasant Hill Historical Society of the Cumberlands. She was also an able musician, an avid game player and an enthusiastic explorer and defender of the outdoors.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Seely of Pleasant Hill; children, David, Anne, Margaret, Peter and Jim; sister, Marjorie MacLeay of Colorado; brother, Edward Cameron of North Carolina; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation campaign to purchase and preserve a portion of Black Mountain.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
