Chester G. Seely

Chester G. Seely was born in Brookfield, Tioga county, PA. (then a portion of Brookfield) Apr. 30, 1817, and died Aug. 23, 1892, aged 75 years, 3 months and 23 days. In 1839 he was united in marriage to Miss Polly Alvord and they commenced housekeeping on the farm where he lived and died. Three children were born to them, one of which is living, Minerva George, the wife of John Bedford George, of Brookfield. Mr. Seely was a charter member of the Free Will Baptist church at Austinburg, having united with that church in 1840. He lived an exemplary life and died in the faith. A widow survives him. Mr. Seely was one of a family of thirteen children, three of them half brothers and ten own brothers and sisters; four of them are still living, viz., Mrs. Mariah Homes, widow of J.H. Homes, late of this boro; Mrs. Cynthan Doughert, wife of Jno. Dougherty, of Brookfield; Timothy Seely of California, and Richmond Seely, of Michigan. His funeral was held on Wednesday morning last at 11 o’clock at Austinburg, conducted by Rev. D.W. Hunt, and interment in the Woodlawn cemetery at Austinburg.
