ADRIAN — Carl Ivan Seely, 91, of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Hospice of Lenawee. He was born Oct. 2, 1922 in Wyandotte to John and Mazo (Heiserman) Seely. Carl married Donna Stanton on Oct. 3, 1964 and she survives.
Carl graduated from Reading High School in 1940. He formerly taught house building at Hillsdale High School from 1968-1977 and was a master carpenter for 70 years. Carl attended Bankers Baptist Church and was a former member of the Hillsdale Elks Lodge No. 1575. He enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and softball, gardening, bowling and jigsaw puzzles.
In addition to his wife, Donna, Carl is survived by four stepchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren; and six step great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dreva Shaw; four brothers, Roger, Lynford, Vincent and Calvin Seely; and a step granddaughter.
There will be no services at this time for Carl Seely. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Bankers Baptist Church, Hospice of Lenawee or donor’s choice.
