BRIGHAM CITY – Arta McLain Seely, 70, died in his home, 121 North 4th West, at 2:40 p.m. Thursday. He had been ill a year.

Besides his widow, five sons and daughters survive, A. Elwyn and F. Leland Seely, Brigham City; Mrs. Vera S. Carter, Park Valley; Mrs. Leola S. Anderson, Ogden and Grant M. Seely, San Diego, Cal.; and 19 grandchildren, also four step children, Mrs. Frank E. Maddocks, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Marion Kendall, Logan, Miss Carolyn and Joan Neff, Brigham City.

BRIGHAM CITY – Funeral services for Arta McLain Seely, 70, who died Thursday at his home following a prolonged illness, will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Third LDS ward chapel by Eberhart Zundell, bishop.

Active in the LDS church all his life. Mr. Seely began his service by fulfilling a mission to the southern states in 1897-09.

When the first RFD mail route was established out of Salt Lake City in 1905, he was appointed carrier. He served for five years. He represented western Box Elder county school district as a member of the board of education for three successive four-year terms. He was secretary-treasurer of the Park Valley National Farm Loan Assn. for 14 years, and was a director of several telephone, irrigation and livestock companies.
