WESTFIELD, N.Y. Emma P. VanDyke, 86, Jackson Street, Westfield, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at The Waters of Westfield.

She was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Ripley, N.Y., daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Hunt Seeley. She had lived most of her life in Westfield.

Employed by Welch Foods Inc., she also worked in the advertising and composing departments for the Westfield Republican newspaper.

She graduated from Westfield Academy.

She was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge in Mayville, N.Y. She enjoyed camping and attending family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Frank and Emmagean Paden; her husband, Donald L. VanDyke, in 2003; an infant son, Steven Charles Vandyke; and two adoptive brothers, Francis and Fenton Paden.

Survivors include a son, James VanDyke of Westfield; a daughter, Mary Lou Horton of Westfield; four grandsons, William VanDyke and Paul, David and Steven Horton; a granddaughter, Deborah Hunt; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield. A service will be held there Monday at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Gary Henry of West Portland Baptist Church.

Burial will be at Westfield Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
