Gender: Male

Date of Birth: March 10, 1870

Birth Place: Dodge Township, Union County, IA

Frank Seeley was born in Dodge township, Union county, Iowa, on March 11, 1870. His father, Ira Seeley, was a native of Pennsylvania and with his parents settled in Platte township in 1856, where he was married to Martha A. Anderson in July 1859. They purchased the farm north of Afton in 1868 and added to it from time to time until at present it consists of six hundred acres.

With the exception of the year 1876, during which they lived in Afton, they spent the remainder of their lives upon this farm, which has been the home of Frank Seeley throughout his entire life save for a period of one year spent in Afton and two years spent in the high school of Creston, from which he was graduated with the class of 1890. After his graduation he taught school in Union and Adair counties in the winter seasons and worked on the farm in the summer months until 1895, when he formed a partnership with his father, and upon the death of the latter on the 7th of January 1904, he assumed the management of the estate. The death of his mother occurred July 28, 1907, and the estate at the present time is in process of settlement under his supervision as executor.

Our subject is a past noble grand of Afton Lodge, No. 130, I.O.O.F., and also a past patriarch of Afton Encampment, No. 61, I.O.O.F.
